I have been involved in APX since Anja Hein approached me in 2012 and told me about her interest in starting a colony and working with a group of her classmates to establish a chapter of APX at the University of Maryland. I didn’t know a lot about APX that day… but in the weeks, months and years that have now passed I have seen and learned a great deal about this organization nationally and locally through my participation with Olynthius. I am glad I said yes to her request to serve as faculty advisor all those years ago, I’ve had the privilege to work with some of the most energetic and engaged students of my career and watch them grow and develop as young leaders and get the most out of their time in our school through their brotherhood in APX. I myself, have gained a deeper connection to the group by going through initiation with Olynthius and participating in the faculty advisor annual roundtable in Minneapolis with other advisors from around the country. I look forward to participating in the alumni association to keep relationships going with alumni and expand the range of benefits I gain from my involvement with the good people of APX. |

I helped found the Olynthius chapter starting in my Sophomore year at University of Maryland. I was philanthropy chair of our colony for a semester and went on to become our first Worthy Superintendent. The position was demanding and intense, but I learned a lot and had tons of fun making costumes and props with my brothers! We all bonded over the long hours of cutting, sewing, and hammering, no matter how much we may have whined about it. Unfortunately, before we did our first ritual I had to step down for personal reasons and the wonderful Kristin Gatzendorfer took over. I’ve had some hard times since joining this family, but my brothers have been here for me through it all and I probably couldn’t have gotten through architecture studio without them! My personal interests are becoming a Disney princess, dogs, chocolate, and singing (sometimes loudly and occasionally off-key). I’m a huge social activist with a vision for a much more loving, peaceful world. My favorite thing about the APX family is how accepting we are of each other whether we just met or have known each other for years. I always know it’s going to be a good time when we get together with brothers from other chapters! I never knew I would have a family that extends coast to coast and beyond, but I would never trade it for anything! |

I am a 2015 Graduate from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Architecture. I continued my education at UMD graduating with an M.Arch in the spring of 2017. I am a recent newlywed, marrying the love of life in May, 2015. Family is very important and I look forward to building my own with my wife. I was drawn to Alpha Rho Chi by the idea of making some friends and some connections for future professional opportunities. By the time I graduated I was excited that I was able to leave with more than friends, but was able to become part of a family. It is great to be part of a family that shares similar interests, and are there to support you. It would be great to not only continue the brotherhood, but to be to grow the bond shared between us. |

Alpha Rho Chi has not only allowed me to form long-lasting friendships with amazing people, but also gave me the opportunity to make positive impacts through volunteering and leadership. Starting as part of the Delta Class in 2015, I took on many positions including Recruitment Chair, Fundraising Chair, Goods Manager, and eventually Vice President. I also was proud to represent our chapter as Delegate for the 2017 National Convention, which is one of my favorite memories. After graduating undergrad in Spring of 2017, I am returning to graduate school at UMD while also continuing to work part time at Transforming Architecture, a local residential architecture firm. I am looking forward to staying involved with APX through our Alumni Association and continuing to bond with our growing active chapter! |

I completed my undergraduate degree in architecture at the University of Maryland. It is during that time that I was part of the founding of Alpha Rho Chi's Olynthius Chapter. I was the Social Chair until I graduated Spring '14. I am now a graduate student at Virginia Tech, at the Washington Alexandria Architecture Center. I have a very diverse background: I am French, born in Venezuela, raised in Asia, and now living in the US. I have lived across the globe, have friends a bit everywhere, but thanks to APX, I now also have another family here, with brothers whom i can count on and who can count on me whenever they need, or just when they feel like they want to hang out! |

When I volunteered to be a part of the organizing committee for the Olynthius Colony in 2012, I had no idea that I was starting such a meaningful journey. September 6, 2014 was one of the most rewarding days - when we were finally installed as the Olythius Chapter. Being a member of Alpha Rho Chi never ceases to teach me about myself and others. I never imagined myself being president of anything, but the series of positions I held and teams I was a part of as a colonist gave me the confidence and leadership skills to to become the Founding President of the Olynthius Chapter. Since graduation in May 2015 from the University of Maryland, I have had the pleasure of continuing to be involved with the chapter, as I still live nearby and work in DC. I love watching our traditions grow and repeat, bonding with new and old brothers of the Olynthius Chapter and meeting brothers and alumni from other chapters, whether it is at initiations, White Roses, birthday parties, or DC get togethers. Alpha Rho Chi has taught me about brotherhood, tradition, leadership, and pride. I know that I will continue to experience these gifts through the Olynthius Alumni Association, and alumni involvement. |

I pledged APX during my junior year. I sat near a few people already in the chapter in studio, and so I would always hear about the things they were doing and planning, and it just seemed like a lot of fun. So when they asked me to pledge that Spring, I said sure. I figured it would be a fun time, and maybe I could make some connections with people outside the University. I had no idea how quickly those crazies would become my new family. I served as the Philanthropy chair the following year, my senior year, and I felt so proud when we as a chapter raised over $500 for Architecture for Humanity. My favorite thing about APX is the willingness to help other people, even when they are not part of our fraternity, and to make a bonding experience out of anything, even something as simple as a trip to Costco. These crazy people are my family, and I’m so happy to have a family that is nationwide, and ever growing! |

I was Secretary on Olynthius' Colony founding board, the next year was the Marketing & Graphics Chair, and finally was WAA the year the Chapter was installed. APX played the biggest role in my college years and in who I became as a professional. My favorite memories of Olynthius are those where we were bonding as a whole group - Installation, Initiations, Recruitment, Field Day, etc. I also love the mentorship, both on a professional and personal level. I love having brothers who are there for me and who I can be there for too! I graduated UMD in 2015, and went on to UNC Charlotte for an M.Arch in 2017. I work primarily on K-12 and Library projects in Chicago. |

I graduated the University of Maryland in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science in Architecture. After graduation I moved to Israel, where I have begun an intensive technical Hebrew program and joined the Israel Defense Forces. I will be attending Technion University in Haifa, Israel for my Masters of Architecture starting in 2016. I love nature, backpacking, rock-climbing, painting, and football. I joined Alpha Rho Chi at Maryland because Kristin Gatzendorfer told me I had to. It was one of the greatest things I ever was forced into doing. While at first hesitant to be an active member, I soon began to be quite interested in our colony. At first became the Pledge Educator. This was my first step into really shaping the way our chapter would look and feel. Somehow the drive and passion grew, and along with the rest of our founding members, Maggie, Erika and Kristin we really began to mold the chapter. I then was elected as Treasurer and by being on the Executive Board, I fully feel in love with Alpha Rho Chi. That is what eventually drove me to push for the Alumni Association to get started. There is a great bond of brotherhood that was created in our chapter and it's something that, while I am miles away from everyone, I want to be just as close with. |

Within APX I had the privilege to serve as both the founding Vice President and President of the Olynthius Colony from 2012 till 2014. During those formative years of the chapter I learned so much about leadership and what it means to create something amazing with so many creative and hardworking friends. In 2014, I graduated from my undergraduate studies filled with so many emotions concerning my own future, yet within our budding Colony I felt only uncapped excitement. Excitement derived wholly from the quality of leadership I witnessed rise up around me to continue an efforts towards becoming a chapter. As President I had helped set the stage for brotherhood but in subsequent years it has truly been those who have come after who have turned us all into a family.Today, APX means continuing those relationships into my post-academic life. While I am so blessed to look back at the active members continuing to evolve our chapter into something ever greater, I am excited to take part in extending our family into the realm of an Alumni Association. As a personality I sit somewhere between a workaholic recluse that obsesses over self-indulgent details and a bombastic extrovert who spends way to much time starting conversational non-sequiturs inspired by a podcast I had just listened to that day. I’m an avid runner and rock-climber who wishes he had more time to spend outside and traveling. Growing up my family consisted of mainly artists and carpenters creating a life long fascination with wood & metalworking. My life goals include designing and building my own furniture, climbing Mt. Fuji, becoming the first architect in space, and catching a fish with my bare hands. |

I am a 2015 graduate from the University of Maryland, where I studied Architecture and French and was a four-year member of the Varsity Cheerleading Team. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Michigan with my Master of Architecture degree. I currently live and work in the coolest city - Chicago - at DLR Group on the K-12 education team analyzing and designing schools in the Chicagoland area. I am halfway done with my path to becoming a licensed architect, and have been able to share advice and resources with other alumni as they begin their licensing process. I was drawn to Alpha Rho Chi at UMD while it was still in the beginning stages my sophomore year because I wanted to make connections with older students to make transitioning into studio easier. It was incredibly rewarding being a part of the Charter Class of our chapter. My senior year, I was the Recruitment Chair and then elected Worthy Superintendent at the end of February 2015 and proceeded to plan our very first chapter-run initiation with the help of the E-board and brothers. Having these two roles back to back was very special to me since I was in charge of coordinating the events that brought them from pledges to full brothers. Now that we have founded an Alumni Association for our chapter, I have been able stay in touch with my brothers, active and alumni. Joining APX, especially early on, is one of the best choices I made in college because it opened many doors for me. I have connections across the country and formed deeper bonds with my classmates, bonds that span across the country and across the ocean. |
